It is matter of immense pleasure to note that the export of Kinnow has surpassed all the previous records and new markets has been tapped for this unique fruit. My felicitations to the growers, processors, exporters, freight-forwarders and other stakeholders on their unity in action and synchronisation of activities to achieve this goal.
Pakistan stands amongst the top ten citrus growing countries in the world and is the largest Kinnow grower in the global market. Almighty Allah has endowed this country with vast potential to produce tropical, sub-tropical and temperate fruits flowers and vegetables and there is a great need to tap this potential.
The production of fruit, flowers and vegetables is not only viable but also great benefit to Pakistan in terms of economic and financial gains. We should also work on developing ways and means to maximise benefits as a member of WTO. There is a need to focus on horticulture and related industries for value addition.
I congratulate all the stakeholders on this occasion for their commendable success and increases and increasing the exports twofold and accessing new markets. I am sure the dedication and the devotion of all the collaborators and through the quality of service of supporting organisations, the PHDEB will continue to devise innovative means and strife for the excellence in horticulture exports.
May Allah Almighty with us in our endeavours, Ameen!
