Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood inaugurated the first international conference on 'Satellite Remote Sensing and GIS as an input to monitor sediment transportation into the Mangla reservoir'.
Professor Dr Bob Wasson deputy vice-chancellor Charles Darwin University Australia, Professor Dr Waqar Ahmad Co-ordinator School of Remote Sensing & GIS Charles Darwin University Australia, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran Dean Faculty of Science University of the Punjab, Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar Principal Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) were the main speakers.
Speaking on the occasion, Arshad Mahmood said that that conference had a lot of importance because in the developed world spatial technologies such as Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing were playing a pivotal role in the natural resource management and its efficient utilisation.
