ISLAMABAD: Thanking Pakistan for extending necessary cooperation in tackling the challenge thrown by the organisation of Fateullah Gullen, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday said Gullen, while sitting in Pennsylvania, is dreaming to rule the entire world.
The statement comes the same day when students and teachers of Pak-Turk School staged protests against the governments decision of deporting Turkish staff from Pakistan.
Addressing a joint session of the Parliament here, the Turkish president, who is in the country on a two-day visit, called upon the Muslim Ummah to forge unity and take practical measures to counter the threat of terrorism.
He said terrorist organisations are brining bad name to the religion of peace Islam and also to the Islamic world. Terrorist organisations like Daesh and Al-Qaeda are inflicting damages only on Muslim countries, he added.
Earlier, in his welcome address Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid glowing tributes to the visionary leadership of Turkish President Erdogan. He said the peoples of two countries have courageously faced the common challenge of terrorism and rendered innumerable sacrifices for regional and global peace.
Ayaz Sadiq said brave armed forces of Turkey and Pakistan have inflicted fatal blow to global terrorist networks like Daesh and launched historic operations like Zarb-e-Azb.
A rousing welcome was accorded to Turkish President when he arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit to Pakistan on Wednesday evening. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Begum Kalsoom Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz warmly welcomed the Turkish President and first lady at Nur Khan Airbase Rawalpindi.
President Erdogan will now travel to Lahore, where the Prime Minister will host a banquet in the honour of visiting dignity at Shahi Fort.
It may be mentioned that the Turkish government has been consistently demanding to shut down the Pak-Turk schools in Pakistan, which, it claims, are backed by Fethullah Gulen-inspired Hizmet movement.
A few days back, Turkey ambassador called on the Pakistan government to close down all the institutions backed by Hizmet movement. Turkish staff members of the Pak-Turk school on the other hand have moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against orders of the Interior Ministry to leave the country by November 20.
A chain of 28 schools and colleges is functioning under the Pak-Turk Education Foundation in different cities of Pakistan, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Jamshoro and Quetta.
