Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education, Zubaida Jalal on Friday said National Plan of Action on Disabilities has been finalised which would be launched soon. Speaking in a PTV programme she said a Social Protection Policy is also being evolved to protect civic rights of the citizens particularly at the time of crisis and national disasters.
During the recent earthquake, a strategy plan was evolved and implemented which would also be incorporated in the policy, she informed. She said the ministry is working on inclusive education model to make the disables a part of mainstream educational institutions.
There are four types of disabilities namely blindness, hearing, physical and mental, she said adding, except the mentally disabled children, all of them can be taught in mainstream institutions through imparting proper training to the teaching staff. To a question she said the teachers would also be trained to educate the slow learners.
