According to a recent survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan, Pakistanis have a taste for Paratha in breakfast, Roti for lunch and a mix of Roti and Rice for dinner.
When asked what do you prefer for breakfast? 45 percent said Paratha, 34 percent went for Roti and Salan (Curry), while 10 percent opted for the package bread, generally known as "Double Roti" in the local parlance.
As for the rest, 10 percent said they could only afford simple Roti and 11 percent said they went for a cup of tea only. As for lunch, it was heavily titled in favour of Roti as 85 percent favoured it compared to the 15 percent who went for rice. At dinners time proportion of the rice eaters increases to 30 percent while Roti still claims a majority of 67 percent and 3 percent favour both.
The survey was conducted by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, among a nationally representative Sample of over 1000 men and women comprising of all income, age and regional groups. The error margin for a sample of this kind is +-5 percent at a confidence level of 95 percent.
