The City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that city District Government Karachi (CDGK) would sing an agreement formally with the Malaysian and Indian private firms in the first week of July to built a multi-storied Information Technology (IT) tower in the metropolis.
This he said while being a chief guest at the meeting to review the elevated expressway and the IT tower here at a local hotel on Wednesday. District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Fazal-ur-Rehman, Deputy Chief Executive IJM Dato Goh Chye Koone, representative of Indian firm, EDOs of CDGK, were present on the occasion.
The IT tower will be based on 46 stories and will be constructed by CDGK in collaboration with the Malaysian and an Indian private firms.
Giving a briefing about the project, the Chief Executive IJM Dato Goh Chye Koone said the 46 storied building would have all modern and basic facilities on its various tiers. He said five stories for CDGK's group of offices and five stories would be reserved for parking respectively.
"The proposed building would have a call centre consists of 1000 seats,a mini-cinema, an auditorium, a library, a health centre, and a guest room to accommodate around 66 persons at a time, besides other required modern facilities, " he said and added that the project would be completed in a record span of time.
City Nazim said that the construction of a signal-free elevated expressway would help ease the persistent traffic problems in the city, adding that Karachi was being exposed as a business city in the world, which would give further impetus to the economic activities. Mustafa Kamal said with the initiation of such mega-projects would help generate jobs for more than 30,000 skilled youth in the city.
