Chairman of Higher Education Commission Dr Atta-ur-Rehman on Thursday said that about Rs 5 billion would be spend on the development of biotechnology during next five year.
Speaking in a PTV programme, he said international linkages and research would be established for development of biotechnology. Introduction of biotechnology would bring positive impact on country's agriculture sector, he added.
He said that Higher Education Commission has approved project for popularisation of science adding many public awareness programme would be launched in this regard.
The chairman, said members of national assemblies, farmers, people belonging to other departments, print and electronic media would also be involved in awareness campaign.
