France's Richard Gasquet insisted on Sunday he has a chance of shocking reigning Wimbledon champion Roger Federer when he takes on the world number one at the All-England club.
Gasquet, 20, was given the draw every player fears when he was paired against Swiss ace Federer in the Wimbledon first round and he is scheduled to take on the three-time champion on centre court on Monday.
Federer has a magnificent 41-match winning run on grass and needs just one more victory to beat the record he currently shares with Swede Bjorn Borg.
But Gasquet is in confident mood himself after completing his Wimbledon build-up by winning the Nottingham Open for the second successive year on Saturday.
He comfortably defeated Jonas Bjorkman in the Nottingham final and believes he is close to his best after stomach and elbow injuries had plagued him for several months.
He can also take comfort from an impressive display against Federer at the Halle tournament in Germany earlier this month, when he was only narrowly beaten in three sets.
Gasquet said: "I have a small chance against Roger. I played a great match with him in Halle. I had four set points in the first, won the second and only lost 6-4 in the third.
"But for my injuries I am sure I would be 15 in the world right now, no problem.
"I know I am getting back to my best. I played really good tennis at Nottingham, but not my best.
"But this is a grand slam, and it's on the centre court at Wimbledon, so it won't be easy to play against him and beat him.
"If we hadn't been drawn together in the first round, I think I could have reached the fourth round or the quarter finals."
If Gasquet does spring a shock against Federer he will face Britian's Tim Henman or Robin Soderling in the second round.
