Chinese buyers have booked up to 5,000 tonnes of US corn in containers since Guangdong quarantine authorities released the first parcel of the grain for use by a feed mill about 10 days ago.
But traders were sceptical about rumours in Chicago overnight that China might have bought a full boatload of US corn because it was still unclear if Beijing would allow such imports.
Beijing quarantine authorities have not yet handed out necessary papers to Xiwang Sugar Holdings Co Ltd, a corn starch producer from Shandong, which placed in May China's first major order for US corn in years.
