The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) on Friday launched a three-week training programme on national and regional accounts here at the FBS training wing to enhance professional competency of statisticians.
The training course is being conducted by Dr Bernd Struck, an international expert from GTZ, Germany and Adviser to FBS on national accounts, says a press release.
In three-module course, the first module deals with general issues of economic surveys covering economic circuit, basics of measuring economic activity, business registers, area sampling techniques and classifications.
The second module consists of introduction to concepts and principles of the system of national accounts, measurement of production and consumption, distribution of income, capital formation and input-output overview.
The third module of the course will cover regional accounts, which mainly aims at regional GDP and regional output of selected industries. It is for the first time that such significant course is being conducted by the expert of GTZ, having international recognition.
The course is being attended by 20 professionals of senior level from various organisations including FBS, State Bank of Pakistan and Provincial Statistics Bureaus.
