Wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were mostly firm at midsession on Friday on spring wheat weather jitters, but technical selling pushed prices off their early highs, traders said.
Seasonal pressure from the winter wheat harvest also helped to anchor prices, with forecasts calling for mostly favourable weather this weekend in the central US Plains.
"The weather that's a concern in corn - the hot, dry weather - should be conducive to good harvest progress in the wheat areas," Prudential Financial analyst Shawn McCambridge said.
As of 11:45 am CDT (1645 GMT), CBOT July wheat was down 1-1/2 cents at $3.72-1/2 per bushel while most-active September was up 2 at $3.97. September traded in a range from $3.91-1/2 to $3.99-1/2.
