Director Social Welfare Department, Dr Fakhar-ul- lslam has assure that his department would ensure implementation on two percent fixed quota for the disabled people in the government jobs. Similarly, inspectors have been engaged by the department for the protection of their rights.
He expressed these views at distribution ceremony of tri-cycles and wheel- chairs for the maimed people at Dargai on Monday. Chairman District Zakat Committee, Rizwanullah and other speakers also addressed on the occasion.
A total of 26 organisations were working for the rehabilitation of 0.2 million handicapped people in the province, he said adding that the MMA government has increased the provision of tri-cycles for the disabled in the last two years. Dr Fakhrul-Islam said that the Provincial government was taking all possible steps for rehabilitation of the disabled people and has increased the funds by six times.
The government would establish an institute for the mentally retarded people in District Nowshera this year, he said, adding that setting up of rehabilitation centers for the disabled children at Karak, Mansehra and Batkhela are also on the cards.
Later, he distributed tricycles and wheel chairs among 38 handicapped people hailing from various union councils of Dargai.
