The Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) of Law and Justice Ministry on Thursday approved Rs32 million for the automation of Supreme Court of Pakistan, and to provide Video Conferencing facility to Supreme Court of Pakistan, Federal Shariat Court and all provincial High Courts.
DDWP meeting was chaired by Justice E Mansoor Ahmed, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice.
Representatives of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, (LJCP), Planning and Development Division, Finance Division, and Access to Justice Programme (AJP) attended the meeting.
Earlier, Muhammad Afzal Kahut, Programme Director, Access to Justice Programme (AJP), presented the working papers of the two schemes to the committee. The automation of Supreme Court of Pakistan will cost Rs 19.273 million.
It would help improve the process of computerisation of case and Case law by use of available technology for the creation of Case Law and its Management, updating the list of cases pending with the court, and to enhance accuracy and efficiency of scope of Work at the Apex Court.
The overall outcome of the automation include establishment of Case law and Categorisation of Cases, standard usage of terms and coding plan for efficient processing of available information, besides availability of updated and ready to use Cases information in Supreme Court of Pakistan, secure and reliable storage of valuable information and quick delivery of Case fixation information from remotest location to Supreme Court would be ensured.
The Video Conferencing facility for Supreme Court of Pakistan, Federal Shariat Court and all provincial High courts will cost Rs 12.796 million.
It would enhance institutional strengthening of National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC).
The meeting was informed that it will improve the capacity and performance of justice through co-ordination with all justice sector institutions.
