Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said the government is fully aware of problems being faced by the people of Karachi due to power shortage and is taking remedial measures to bridge the gap between supply and demand of electricity.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the Governor house here soon after his arrival on Thursday, the Prime Minister said Wapda is presently providing 700mw electricity to Karachi, which will ease the situation. However, the KESC has been asked to take steps to enhance its capacity to solve the problem on a permanent basis.
Talking of the restoration of Council of Common Interests (CCI), the Prime Minister said CCI will contribute to solving disputes, if any, between provinces and lead to greater harmony and unity between the provinces.
Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad briefed the Prime Minister about the law and order situation. The meeting was attended by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, federal minister for inter-provincial co-ordination Salim Saifullah Khan, federal minister for narcotics control Ghous Bukhsh Mehar and city nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.
