Chairman, Task Force for Industry, Mian Muhammad Riaz has said the induction of trained and semi-skilled persons in industrial sector will not only help bring down the graph of unemployment but also support in improving the quality of products and enhancing the capacity of industrial sector.
Speaking as chief guest at an inauguration of training course at Government Pilot Technical Institute here on Thursday evening, he said under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister more than 0.1 million trained and skilled workforce would be produced in the province.
He said Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) had initiated various training courses for producing the maximum trained and semi-skilled persons in the province.
Muhammad Riaz further said that in order to promote industrial sector the research and development culture would also be promoted. He said adequate efforts would be made for the diversification of products and in this regard business community would be motivated.
He said the government was making strenuous efforts for brining industrial revolution aimed at ensuring a strong industrial base in the province, adding non-traditional products would be promoted. The diversification of products and export of non-traditional products would not only help enhancing the export volume but also generate large employment opportunities for the educated and skilled persons in the province, he said.
Special attention would be focused on minimising the import of raw material for the completion of products and strategy would be evolved for producing the raw material within Punjab, he added.
Mian Riaz revealed that Metal Industrial Development Center (MIDC) would be upgraded and converted into a common facility center to facilitate the surgical industry of Sialkot, adding that MIDC would also provide the facility of training for overcoming the shortage of trained workforce. The aim of setting up task force was to ascertain the problems and difficulties being faced by the business community and hindering the process of industrialisation in the province, he said.
In his address of welcome district, Tevta Sialkot Manager Colonel Nazish M James (Retd) informed that Tevta would provide facility of free training courses and on its completion the government would provide Rs 1500 to each student. As many as 3000 students would be trained in various courses in one year in Sialkot and Narowal districts, he added.
