The French Ambassador in Pakistan Regis de Belenet, along with French consul general at Karachi, called on Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Dr Hamida Khuhro here on Saturday.
Dr Khuhro on the occasion briefed the French envoy on major steps taken by the government in the field of education. She also told about distribution of free textbooks, steps to promote female literacy and education of out of school children.
French ambassador informed provincial minister that his country under platform of European Commission was providing assistance to Pakistan, which included financial assistance to the Higher Education Commission and universities. He said that France was keen to promote quality of education.
Reges de Belenet lauded efforts of Dr Hamida Khuhro for promotion of education in Sindh. Dr Hamida Khuhro on the occasion presented the guests with "Ajrak", a traditional gift of Sindh. Secretary Education Sindh Ghulam Ali Pasha was also present.
