Pakistan Muslim League (N) on Tuesday said President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz should resign after Pakistan Steel Mills scam and failure of their economic policies.
Addressing a meeting of leaguers Allah Nawaz Khan Durrani, District President, Nafees Ahmed Ansari, MPA, and General Secretary, Rana Noor-ul-Hassan, Ex-MPA City President, Tariq Rashid Shaikh General Secretary, Athar Mumtaz Shaikh, Imtiaz Gulzar Chattan and Riaz Latifi said President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz supervised the privatisation process of the Steel Mill in particular and other units in general and after the scam they should immediately tender their resignations. They said that PML-N parliamentarians with the support of other opposition parties would move no-confidence motion against the prime minister and impeachment motion against the president.
"If the move of opposition parties could not succeed then a mass mobilisation drive against the government will start from August," they said. They alleged that after 9/11 Pakistan received $50 billion but the government did not inform as how it used the entire amount. They said Pakistan was suffering from multiple crises and held the government responsible for the current situation.
Criticising the foreign policy, they said the government could not make effective efforts to improve bilateral ties with Afghanistan and India as both countries often levelled allegations of terrorism against Pakistan. While criticising the Punjab government, they said the role of Chaudharys of Gujrat became more critical as the other provinces strongly criticised the Punjab government on national issues. Chaudhry brothers were in politics due to their own interests. They were with Nawaz Sharif, during his tenure and now they are with President Pervez Musharraf.
They condemned the kidnapping of brothers of Senator Sanaullah Baloch on gunpoint and said the ongoing military operation in Balochistan was harmful to the country.
On stock market scandal, they demanded that a stern action should be taken against the peoples responsible for the scam. Durrani asked the government why it remained silent if it knew the scam. On the Steel Mill scam, he alleged that the government was using delaying tactics to investigate the matter.
