A multi-dimensional plan, costing over rupees two billion, has been launched for weeding out the backwardness and to provide basic facilities to the people of Chawinda of Sialkot district.
The official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that under plan, the two technical training institutions in various industrial fields for males and females would be established in the area. The work on setting up of technical institutions would be undertaken shortly and it is expected that a large number of males and females of the area would join these training institutions.
Similarly, 60 primary and middle schools were being upgraded to middle and high level, while 43 villages would be converted into model villages, besides two male and female degree colleges, costing Rs 30 million, were also being established for ensuring maximum facility of education to the students at their doorstep, said the sources.
Under the programme, they said, special attention had been accorded to the improvement of means of communication and 12 different roads, costing more than Rs 103 million, were being constructed and widened in the area.
Besides, tehsil Pasrur had been declared Barani tehsil and under the programme, each union council of the tehsil would be given six million rupees for undertaking collective projects pertaining to peoples welfare, dairy farming and other small-scale projects for improving the economic condition of the people of tehsil Pasrur. Many other development projects pertaining to peoples as well as industrial workers had also been undertaken in the area, they said.
