District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has constituted a high-powered committee for probing sale of mortgaged plots, deposited by private housing societies with LDA as guarantee for construction of physical infrastructure, without completing development works in these schemes.
Chairing a meeting at his office on Friday, Amer said that a large number of private housing schemes had sprang up in the city during the past two decades, without any coherence with LDA's master's plan for the city development.
He observed that after earning profit through sale of plots, the developers of these schemes had never been interested in day-to-day maintenance of these localities. He further revealed that resources of the City District Government or the Lahore Development Authority could not be spent for ameliorating the plight of these schemes, under the law.
