The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to establish sub-campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan at Dera Ghazi Khan. A project submitted by the BZU entitled "establishment of sub campus at D.G. Khan" has been approved in HEC's Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP), says a statement on Friday.
The project aims at providing not only an opportunity to the students of this far flung area to sensitise themselves to critical national issues but also at providing suitable environment to the students of this area for grooming their personalities and enhancing their natural skills, to determine youth aspirations, development potential and role in the society and identify issues and problems affecting them.
B.Z. University, Multan will open campus in D.G. Khan to make higher education accessible to population in the remote area. The establishment of a sub-campus in this underdeveloped area shall be a very vital source of skilled and highly educated human resource and would prove to be a very fruitful step by the Federal Government as well as Government of the Punjab in fulfilling its duties to alleviate poverty and other social-deprivation and hence to maintain parity with respect to other developed areas of the country.
