Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 82,753 tonnes of cargo including 59,767 tonnes import, 22,986 tonnes export cargo and 3,009 containers during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The cargo comprised of 60,701 tonnes dry cargo including 35,208 tonnes general cargo; 3,348 tonnes sugar; 8,091 tonnes fertiliser; 2,214 tonnes cement; 7,177 tonnes coal; 4,663 tonnes steel scrap and 22,052 tonnes oil/Liquid cargo.
Six ships namely Cape Santiago, Stolt Azalea, Palessa, Qin Hai, SC Fortitude and Mol Asante sailed out to sea during the report period. Six vessels viz Sp 5-Eric G. Gibson, Dareen, Yasmine, Lalazar, Jo Sycamore and Holly Galaxy are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Mac Aandresew Swala, Man Pung and Holly Galaxy expected to sail on Saturday, while six vessels viz Ocean Morning, Yang Jiang He, Kota Tabah, Dareen, Worada Naree and Al-Jaber XV are expected to sail on Sunday.
Three vessels viz Yang Jiang He, Malakand and Swift due to arrive on Saturday, while three ships namely Oel Aishwarya, Multan and Ikan Selar are due to arrive on Sunday.
Seven ships namely Viscaya, MT Swat, Victoria-1, Southern Imperial, Iran Sattari, Tai He and Iron Butterfly are due to arrive on Monday.

PORT QASIMA total cargo volume of 66,294 tonnes comprising 52,822 tonnes import and 13,472 tonnes export inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,043 containers (TEUs) was handled during last 24 hours ending at 0800 hours on Saturday. The cargo comprised of 20,122 tonnes furnace oil; 2,960 tonnes sugar; 7,181 tonnes canola seeds; 1,300 tonnes cement and 34,731 tonnes containerised cargo.
Four ships namely CV KIA Waleed, CV Xiang Wan, CV CMA CGM Turkey and MT Kudam sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while container ship namely Maersk Peterhead is expected to sail on Saturday. A total of five vessels viz Sima Paya, MSC Ilaria, Yong Xiang-9, Warbah and Constantinos are currently at the outer anchorage. Three ships namely CV Sima Paya, CV MSC Ilaria and MT Warbah due to take berths on Saturday.
Three vessels viz CV Maga-1, MV Ikan Seler and CV Oriental Patriot with containers and sugar due to arrive on Saturday, while four container ships namely CV Mol Kauri, CV MSC Lauren, CV MSC Basel and CV MSC Jemima are due to arrive on Sunday.
PORT QASIM WEEKLY OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY A total cargo volume of 565,337 tonnes comprising 446,728 tonnes import and 118,609 tonnes export cargo was handled during last week ending on Friday, 28th July 2006.
The cargo comprised of 126,452 tonnes furnace oil; 50,002 tonnes diesel oil; 34,900 tonnes edible oil; 14,457 tonnes chemicals; 26,329 tonnes sugar; 43,999 tonnes coke, 50,000 tonnes seeds and 219,198 tonnes containerised cargo. A total of twenty-two ships took berths to load/offload the above cargoes, while twenty-five vessels sailed out to sea during the reporting week.
