The clean tanker rates in the transatlantic and Caribbean markets were moving mostly sideways this week, holding onto gains from the previous week, ship brokers said on Wednesday.
Rates for 37,000-tonne capacity tankers for transatlantic voyages were stuck in the range of W310-W315, and rates for 38,000-tonne capacity tankers for Caribbean voyages were pegged at about W270-W275.
Both rates were almost unchanged for the past two weeks. "There are six vessels being worked out of Europe for delivery to the US Atlantic coast," a broker said, adding the chartering inquiries were for loading until August 16-18.
Overseas Antigmar was booked by Astra Oil Trading at W320 for July 31 loading, and Stavangar Eagle was chartered by BP at W310 for August 7 loading. Okhta Bridge was fixed by an undisclosed charterer at W320 for August 7 loading, and Kriti Champion was fixed by Repsol at an undisclosed rate for August 11 loading.
Galahad was booked to load on August 13, and Nara was chartered to load on August 8. Chartering details for both vessels were sketchy. In the Caribbean market, there were about six chartering inquiries for loading until August 7-9. Fulgur was chartered by Citgo at W270 for August 3-5 loading, and Overseas Vega was booked by Hess at W265 for loading on August 6-8. Samaria was fixed to load on August 3, but details were sketchy.
