As many as 22,000 families would start getting essential items, including atta, pulses and sugar at subsidised prices under Chief Minister's 'Sasta Ration' programme from August 1.
District Nazim Sardar Maqsood Ahmad Khan Leghari said that 'Sasta Ration' scheme would operate during the first fifteen days of every month under which poor people would get essential items through coupons.
Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was fully aware of the problems being faced by the common people and revolutionary measures were being adopted to offer them relief, the nazim said in a meeting here.
MPA and member Punjab Public Safety Commission Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, DCO Khusro Pervaiz Malik, EDOR Iram Bukhari, EDO CD Ahmad Khan Leghari, RTA Secretary Naeemullah Bhatti, Secretary Price Control Shafiq Khosa and Iqbal Abbasi were present.
The nazim urged upon the officials to work with honesty and dedication to offer relief to the poor people through CM's scheme.
In addition to other measures to control price hike, price control inspectors were conducting raids at markets and imposing fines on violators of the price control act.
He said that ration sale points would be set up at 59 union councils' in the district to make essential items available to the poor people at subsidised price.
Some 42 sale points would be set up at union councils in tehsil DG Khan, 13 in tehsil Taunsa and four at tribal tehsil.
