The Drug Enforcement Cell of the Pakistan Customs Preventive Collectorate on Wednesday arrested a Pakistani national at the Jinnah Terminal while leaving for Uganda and recovered four kilograms heroin worth Rs 40 million from his possession.
The accused was identified as Abdul Faisal, resident of Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi, who was leaving for Entebbe, Uganda via Emirates Airlines EK 605.
He was arrested after recovery of four kilograms of heroin following detailed examination of his baggage on ground of suspicion. The contraband was concealed in a water dispenser, which Faisal was carrying along with two handbags and one large suitcase, a source in the Customs said.
The source said the accused had already visited Uganda several times in short span of time. The Customs officials were suspicious about his visits and this time they left no option for the accused to hide the drug from them.
The source said the drug was valued about Rs 40 million in the international market. A FIR was registered under Narcotic Act against the accused. For the last one month this was the sixth case. About 14.5 kgs heroin seized from three Pakistanis, two Nigerians and one Senegalese.
