NWFP Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq has asked the people to cooperate with the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) government for achieving 100 percent literacy target in the province. He said the government was focusing on both religious and scientific education to ensure bright future of the new generation.
He was addressing the certificates distribution ceremony of the outgoing students under 'Literacy for All' project in Timergara on Thursday. He said the imperialists were hatching conspiracies to keep the Muslim Ummah away from religious education.
He said the imperials were afraid of the light of Islam and that was why they were pressing for closing religious seminaries. He said that religious institutions were the fortresses of Islam and all intrigues of colonial forces against it would be foiled for good.
He said the MMA government was taking proper steps for promotion of Madaris and no efforts would be spared to make it self sufficient in every respect.
Siraj said the religious seminaries played a vital role in protecting Islam and Muslims during the English reign on subcontinent, adding that the nation still facing the same challenges.
He, while condemning the negative propaganda against Muslims and religious values, asked the Muslim rulers, intellectuals and media to respond tit for tat.
He said the mosque media was much more powerful than western media, hence the Muslims could win the war against enemies by strictly following the religious values and developing close contacts with mosques.
He also regretted the silence of Muslim rulers, including the Pakistan government and OIC on ruthless bombardment of Israel on Lebanon. He also warned the people to be aware of the conspiracies of mutual conflicts in the form of Shia, Sunni and other sectarian differences and asserted that the MMA would foil all such intrigues by uniting the nation.
Highlighting the steps of MMA government for promotion of education, he said education was taken at top of the agenda and record funds were allocated for this sector.
He said reforms in the education sector would be continued with vigour. He said that launching "Literacy for All" project and allocating generous funds for this purpose spoke of the sincerity of the provincial government for promotion of education and enhancing the literacy ratio.
