18,472 government schools without buildings

Despite the tall claims of the government for bringing a literacy revolution in the country yet 18,472 schools have no buildings, while more than 10,000 school buildings have no electricity. Thousands of students are still studying under the trees even without jute-rag.
According to data of the Education Ministry, there are 147,439 middle, primary, high and higher secondary schools in the country, out of which 61,107 schools have no boundary walls, 65,921 schools are without drinking water facility, 79,290 schools don't have bathrooms while 13,650 schools are working without electricity.
The data of Parha Likha (Educated) Punjab shows that 26,902 schools out of 56,233 have no boundary walls, 12,536 are without drinking water facility, 38,414 have no electricity, 31,502 don't have toilets, while 4,301 schools have no buildings.
There are total 45,484 schools in Sindh out of which 12,188 schools have no boundary walls, 26,276 are without clean drinking water facility, 36,021 don't have electricity, 24,962 have no washrooms while 11,982 schools are without buildings.
In NWFP, 10,151 out of 23,313 schools are without boundary walls, 11,938 are deprived of drinking water facility, 15,068 don't have electricity, 9,735 schools are deprived of latrines while 107 have no buildings.
Out of total 11,101 schools in Balochistan, 6,946 schools are without boundary walls, 8,321 don't have drinking water facility, 8,795 are without electricity, 7,849 have no bathrooms while 1,052 have no buildings.
Likewise, out of total 4,599 schools in devastated AJK, 1,774 are without boundary walls, 2,876 don't have clean drinking water facility, 1,434 are without bathrooms while there is no clue to buildings of 605 schools. In the federal capital, 28 schools are without boundary walls, 18 don't have clean drinking water facility, 11 are deprived of electricity while 25 have no toilets among total 398 schools.
Out of total 6,000 schools in southern and tribal areas, over 3,000 schools are without walls, 4,000 are without drinking water facility, 3,050 have no electricity, 3,700 schools don't have latrines and 600 are deprived of buildings.
According to the Education Ministry, allocation for education in the budget is 2.5 percent of the GDP and the government is spending over Rs 20 billion to promote the education in the current fiscal year.
