More than 600 guests, including chief justices and judges from 42 different countries will attend the inaugural ceremony of the International Judicial Conference being held on August 11 at the Supreme Court Auditorium as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the establishment of the Supreme Court, 1956-2006.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the conference. Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, will deliver an inaugural speech. Chief Co-ordinator, Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Supreme Court, Muhammad Ali Gardezi stated this while talking about the arrangements of the conference.
A special flag-hoisting ceremony of national flags of all the 42 participating countries and the host country will be held before the inauguration of the conference. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will jointly unveil a unique monument having justice symbol at the top being constructed in the lawn of the Supreme Court building.
He said preparation of the International Judicial Conference was in full swing and more than ninety percent arrangements had been completed.
He said the chief justices of 24 countries, including France, Russia, Canada, Indonesia and India would take part in the Conference to mark the golden jubilee celebrations. The chief co-ordinator said the conference would discuss 22 topics, including independence of judiciary, role of judiciary for good governance and terrorism and human trafficking.
