Federal Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that all peace efforts are linked with the resolution of Kashmir issue and Pakistan wants to continue talks with India but unfortunately it is not showing enthusiasm in bilateral talks.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he categorically said that desire of continuing talks is not our weakness rather holding of negotiations for resolution of different issues is in the interest of both the countries.
Talking about present political scenario in the country, Durrani said the days of 'daily-wages politics' have gone, if ARD wants to do politics, it should wait till general elections 2007. The ARD would not be able to take the people to streets for the fulfilment of its political objectives, he added.
"Without evidence, Pakistan has never held India responsible for any untoward incident in Pakistan, while India abruptly blamed Pakistan for any incident took place there. India is creating hurdles in peace talks after the Mumbai blasts, which is regrettable", he maintained.
Pakistan, with solid evidences, had apprised India about involvement of its Embassy in Afghanistan in terrorist incidents in Pakistan. India should have also provided proof if it has Pakistan's involvement in Mumbai blasts.
He said that Pakistan wants to continue peace talks with India. The peace talks initiated in Vajpayee's regime have shown significant progress during Manmohan Singh's regime which are not moving forward at present, he maintained.
Durrani also said that next general elections in Pakistan would be held in free, fair and transparent manner, and we would also ensure sanctity of the ballot box. He, however, said the corruption money and corrupt people would be taken to task prior to holding of general elections.
The Opposition parties have announced to launch agitation against the government whereas their parliament member never attends the public meetings. As far as no-confidence move of ARD is concerned, the deadlines of July 31 and August 1 have been passed while the MMA and the ARD are moving in opposite direction. The opposition leadership, sitting in London has spent millions of rupees to announce tabling no-confidence move against the prime minister. After their failure, they should now quit the politics, Durrani said.
He also said the opposition should now learn how to live within the framework of constitution. If it sees any violation of constitution, they can approach the courts, he said, adding the Opposition would receive big surprises in next general polls.
Criticising the PML(N) for politicising the Kargil issue, he said it is bent upon to achieve some vested interests by raising this issue. The people, who are demanding constitution of a commission on Kargil, had not formed any commission during their tenure. About MQM, he said MQM is our ally and all its apprehensions have been removed in an amicable way.
