Punjab Pakistan Peoples Party Information Secretary and Member Provincial Assembly Farzana Raja said that the rulers are trying to hoodwink public and hide their corruption and mega scandals by reopening inert and dead cases like Surrey palace.
In a statement issued here she said: "By reopening the cases which have already been settled and decided by the courts, the regime is exposing its anti-PPP and anti-Bhutto family character. They will not get anything from it as people have faith in the PPP and its leadership".
Farzana Raja termed the present rulers as the most corrupt in the history of the country saying the Supreme Court has also vindicated their corruption by nullifying the privatisation of the Steel Mills.
The PPP leader said that the rulers have failed to prove even a single corruption case against Senator Asif Ali Zardari. She said the courts have acquitted both Benazir and Asif Ali Zardari.
"The regime will never be able to defeat the truth. The rulers have turned crazy in victimising the Bhutto family but the more they try to abuse power, the more the public gets closer to the PPP", she said.
She said: "The submission of assets details is purely the jurisdiction of the Election Commission and the government has nothing to do with it. To implicate the PPP leaders in such cases after 13 years of filling the declaration exposes the political vendetta of the regime. NAB is being used as a butcher to slaughter the political opponents".
Farzana Raja said time of real accountability is not far away when the people will themselves kick out the dictators and elect a popular government.
She said the rulers are having sleepless nights since the joint opposition has planned a no confidence motion against the government.
"This is the time for a final round against the illegitimate rulers who have usurped the rights of the people and imposed themselves on the country. They need to go now and they know they are going", she said.
The MPA said even the supporters of the rulers know their days are numbered so they have also started raising voice for a civil government.
The PPP Punjab secretary information said "PPP activists and leaders are being persuaded to change loyalties or face persecution. This is the worst dictatorial attitude".
She quoted example of District Nazim Muzaffargarh Abdul Qayum Khan Jatoi who has support of 75 percent electorates but his majority is being turned into minority by the regime just for his political affiliations.
She said the regime has blocked funds to the Nazim of an underdeveloped district like Muzaffargarh who hails from the PPP and are harassing him. "They have been implicating his supporters in fabricated cases and are asking him to join their wagon".
Farzana Raja said "Every dictator misuses power to prolong rule but when the people decide to get rid of the usurpers they thrash them out".
She asked the regime to make way for a democratically elected government instead of fabricating cases against the PPP leadership.
Ms Farzana Raja also expressed her shock over the open canvassing of COAS General Musharraf for the ruling party by addressing a public meeting in which General Musharraf has categorically backed PML (Q) and said that "your vote for them will strengthen me if you strengthen me you strengthen Armed forces".
This speech of General Musharraf dragging an institution like Pakistan army into electoral politics and would damage the reputation of Pakistan army which is the custodian of geographical boundaries of Pakistan and under whose supervision next election will be conducted. With such statement Pak Army's impartiality will come under question.
Ms Farzana Raja appealed to Chief Election Commissioner to take suo-moto notice of above-mentioned circumstances to live up to his claim of transparent elections.
