The Landhi police have arrested four members, including the ringleader, of a gang of street criminals and vehicle-snatchers/lifters in an encounter during snap-checking. Weapons, mobile phones, cash and two bikes have also been recovered from their possession.
The police reports say that a mobile team was on patrolling when it noticed that five armed bandits were looting a person, Muhammad Younus, at gun-point at Khuramabad turning. Seeing the police, the bandits tried to flee and when they were chased, they opened fire on the police.
The police also retaliated and cordoned the area, which resulted in the arrest of ringleader Muhammad Aslam Rana, his accomplices, Liaquat Ali Arain and Amjad Khan Jadoon along with three TT pistols. In another incident, accused Mumtaz also a member of vehicle-lifter gang, was arrested during snap-checking near Hyderi Flour Mills.
