The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC), has rectified 450 major faults in the city's underground power cable network following downpour that has been continuing since July 30.
The KESC's spokesman Syed Sultan Hasan in a daily press briefing told that the power utility has fixed 150 major faults in its underground cables network, while 300 errors in linking cables have been repaired according to international standards during the week. However, he said the delay was caused due to rainwater around power cables.
He claimed that almost 99 percent of city's network is working normally, but the corporation is trying to repair faults in the Site area, where 10 sub-stations affected due cable faults.
The city's expected power demand likely to remain between 1700MW to 1800MW and there is no shortage of electricity supply.
Moreover, the corporation has extended the receiving of electricity bill falling between July 31 to August 4. The extended date was Monday (August 7).
Sultan said, "We have extended the date and those consumers paid bill with late surcharge it would be credited to their accounts in next month's bill." The consumer would not suffer as most of the banks did not received timely information from there respective head offices," he added.
