According to the Flood Warning Centre Lahore, the River Indus at Taunsa was in high-flood and on 11th August at Guddu and on 12th August at Sukkar, it is likely to be in high-flood.
The water flow at Tarbela was 272,000 cusecs and here was low flood while at Kalabagh water flow was 386,000 cusecs and there was medium flood. At Taunsa water flow was recorded 593 thousand and three hundred cusecs and it will reach Guddu tomorrow where water flow was 376 thousand and nine hundred cusecs and the same heavy serge of water will reach Sukkar barrage on August 12 and here it will be in high-flood. Water level at Tarbela dam was recorded 1530.40 ft. and at Mangla Dam it was recorded 1200.05 ft.
According to Meteorological Department Lahore Wednesday''s westerly wave over Kashmir has moved away and a week monsoon current was reaching Punjab up to 3000 ft. In the next 24 hours, isolated rains may occur over the catchments of all the major rivers along with northern and north-eastern Punjab. Isolated rainfalls were expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Rawalpindi divisions but mainly dry weather was forecasted in Bahawalpur division.
The position of the inflows/outflows at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages on Thursday was as under:
The inflows and outflows at the Indus at Tarbela and Chashma, river Kabul at Nowshera and Jhelum at Mangla have been reflected as Mean Flows of 24 hours whereas the other flows are gauged at 6.00am.
RIVERS: Indus at Tarbela-inflows 297,200 cusecs and outflows 268,600 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: inflows 71,000 cusecs and outflows 71,000 cusecs, Indus at Chashma-inflows 475,300 cusecs and outflows 466,500 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla- inflows 56,200 cusecs and outflows 75,700 cusecs, Chenab at Marala- inflows 95,600 cusecs and outflows 64,300 cusecs.
BARRAGES: Jinnah- inflows 386,100 cusecs and outflows 378,900 cusecs, Chashma- inflows 475,300 cusecs and outflows 466,500 cusecs, Taunsa- inflows 593,300 cusecs and outflows 593,300 cusecs, Guddu- inflows 376,900 cusecs and outflows 360,100 cusecs, Sukkur- inflows 285,200 cusecs and outflows 240,600 cusecs, Kotri- inflows 122,200 cusecs and outflows 97,400 cusecs.
RESERVOIRS LEVEL AND STORAGE: Tarbela- level 1540.40 ft, live storage 6.486 Million Acre Feet (MAF) and dead level 1369 ft, Mangla- level 1200.05 ft, live storage 4.474 MAF and dead level 1040 ft, Chashma- level 643.00 ft, live storage 0.105 MAF and dead level 637 ft.
