Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Friday observed the "condemnation of Israel" day throughout the country. A protest rally, led by Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori, Rao Zafar Iqbal, Chaudhry Muhammad Latif and Maulana Abdul Rashid Arshad, was held at Masoom Shah Road.
The participants shouted slogans against Israel and United States, "down with America", "down with Israel", "stop bombing localities, "Cease fire to save humanity," "stop Israeli aggression in Lebanon."
Addressing the rally, the local MMA chief Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori said: "we express solidarity with the Lebanese. We think the United States is responsible for the killing of innocent citizens in Lebanon and we continue our protest till the cease-fire." Later, flags of Israel and the United States were set on fire to express their anger against the aggression against Muslim states.
The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) also took out a rally from Kalima Chowk, which concluded at Chowk Kutchery, to condemn the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
The rally was led by Secretary General of Pakistan Chemists Retailers Association Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaq Mayo and participated by Shaukat Ali, Sadiq Hussain, Abdul Mannan, Rana Ikram, Shahid Hussain, Zafar-ul-Islam and Amjad Baloch.
"We have decided to send medicines and food for the people of Lebanon and we appeal to the G-8 countries to intervene for cease-fire in Lebanon, otherwise flames of this war would grip the entire world," Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaq said.
Members of the pastoral institute also staged a peaceful demonstration against Israel, and expressed solidarity with the Lebanese, fighting against Israeli aggression.
The demonstrators, led by Mahboob Sada, Dr Elvin Murad, Fr James Chanan OP, Sr Sabina Riffat, Mushtaq Asad and others, staged the demonstration at the institute.
They demanded of the G-8 countries to stop Israeli army action in Lebanon, and asked the Arab League to stress upon the United Nations Security Council to call a meeting on the issue.
They also asked the Pakistan government to stress upon the US and Israel to forthwith halt the war and allow the Red Cross to secure lives of Lebanese children and women.
Meanwhile, Christians in Multan organised a prayer service at Catholic Cathedral for the suffering humanity in the Middle East and expressed their solidarity with the people of the Middle East, and demanded immediate cease-fire in the region.
More than 100 people from different walks of life participated in the prayer service, led by Bishop Dr Andrew Francis.
