Export Development Fund (EDF) has provided Rs 29 million to National University of Textile Engineering (NUTE), Faisalabad for the development of a garments laboratory. This was told at a meeting on NUTE development projects at Governor's House here on Thursday.
The meeting, presided over by Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (retd), was attended, among others, by NUTE Vice Chancellor, Vice-Admiral Masood M. Biabani (retd), GC University Vice Chancellor, Dr Khalid Aftab, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Director Tahir Jamil Akhtar and Lahore Garments City Company manager Fahmida Ayyaz.
Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab Governor stressed the need for producing graduates of international standards at the Textile University. He also directed the NUTE Vice Chancellor to introduce doctoral programmes at the university. "In this regard, Higher Education Commission (HEC) will provide research grants," Khalid Maqbool said.
