Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani has said the Supreme Court judgement in the Steel Mill case and the reaction of the government reflects a fully functional democracy in the country where constitutional institutions are held high esteem.
He said days have gone when in the past the Supreme Court was attacked after it had passed an order against the then Prime Minister and others declared it as a Kangaroo Court. Talking to a private TV channel he said the judgement comes as a big challenge to these elements who kept on reaching logger head with the Supreme Court whenever it passed any order against their expectations.
He said the court in its judgement did not use the word corruption or ulterior motives at all. "A far as the reaction of the opposition is concerned and the question as to whether it comes as a matter of embarrassment to the government is concerned I would advise them as well as to the media not to try to interrupt the judgement in accordance with their own desires."
