The government should take approval of the Parliament before the privatisation process takes place. It must re-assess if there is need to privatise this national asset. Enough of privatisation has been carried out and we are on the losing end eroding our assets.
The money is being spent to build fly-overs whereas the poor find it hard to get two square meals a day. The public wants to know what action has been taken against those who were instrumental in completing the deal for the sale of Steel Mills.
To put the matter in cold storage will be a grave injustice to the people and the country. There are two things, those are not functioning in the country.
One - monitoring, two - accountability. In the absence of these, the governance at all levels is suffering and the masses are at the receiving end.
Bureaucracy is functioning in a web where it is impossible for a poor man to go through. This problem of inaccessibility to those in authority is creating problems for the poor.
It is time for the high-ups to intervene and instead of orchestrating with the battle of words they should adopt a policy of action.
