Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade fell to a fresh six-week low early on Friday on a big corn production forecast by the US Department of Agriculture, traders said.
In its August crop production and supply/demand reports early Friday, USDA pegged this year's US corn crop at 10.976 billion bushels, above an average of analysts' estimates for 10.795 billion.
At 11:02 am CDT (1602 GMT), CBOT corn was down 7 to 12 cents per bushel with September down 11-3/4 at $2.27 per bushel. New-crop December was down 11-3/4 at $2.44.
