The inauguration ceremony of a memorial in Pakistan Air Force (PAF) museum in remembrance of service rendered by PAF Air Commodore Wladyslaw Turowicz was held here on Monday. According to a press release issued by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Karachi.
The ceremony was presided over by Air Vice Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command of PAF. PAF Air Vice Marshal M. Akhtar (Retd) and PAF officers who had with Turowicz and Polish Air Force officers and technicians attended the ceremony.
Colonel Piotr Lukasiewcz, Defence Military, Air and Naval Attache of Polish Embassy in Islamabad read and handed over a special message of General of the Army, H. Targosz, Chief Commanding Officer of Polish Air Force to Rao Qamar Suleman.
Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Karachi, Ireneusz Makles, in his address said the inaugural ceremony of the plaque in the PAF museum was being held in memory of the services rendered by Turowicz of PAF, who was of Polish origin.
"Today's ceremony marks the friendly and historical relations between the Polish and Pakistani air force officers. Today is the Independence of Pakistan. Tomorrow is Polish Army Festivity day." He said he was glad that the people of Poland also contributed to making Pakistan stronger after its independence on August 14, 1947.
