Convenor, LCCI Standing Committee on Cottage Industry and Chairman Lahore Sewing Machine Manufacturers and Traders Group (LSMMTG), Ghulam Sarwar Malik rejected the demand of importing sewing machines from India and urged the government not to allow its import as the local industry was self-reliant and fulfilling the domestic needs.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, Ghulam Sarwar Malik raised the demand while addressing a 90-member delegation of sewing machine manufacturers.
Vice Chairman of Lahore Sewing Machine Manufacturers & Traders Group Ghulam Hussain Shah, General Secretary Ghulam Sarwar Chishti and Finance Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Ikram were also present on the occasion.
LSMMTG office-bearers said that import of domestic sewing machines would harm the local industry, which was already facing a lot of problems. They also demanded that supply of pig iron and coal to cottage industry should be enhanced so that it could be able to meet day-to-day needs.-PR
