I was watching GEO programme, "Pachas minute", in which Ahmad Faraz along with the government and opposition members were invited. Opposition members exploited Ahmad Faraz's return of medal to the government on the plea of undemocratic government.
Senator Tariq Azeem (Minister of State for Information) then explained the actual reason of his return of medal which fell like a bombshell on the audience. Ahmad Faraz was awarded Pride of Performance from the President of Pakistan in 2004.
He gracefully accepted the Pride of Performance without seeing whether there was democracy or not! In 2006 he was removed from government service on disciplinary grounds. He went to the court and the court decided in favour of the government department. Now Ahmad Faraz in retaliation and frustration returned the Pride of Performance in 2006 saying that government is non-democratic and there is no democracy!
I was stunned over the explanation and most surprisingly Ahmad Faraz could not answer to this explanation! And the audience got the real reason behind his returning of the medal.
I have few questions to Ahmad Faraz.
1. Why did you accepted the Pride of Performance in first place from a military President and after 2 years in 2006 you realised that there is no democracy in the country! The nation cannot expect such late realisation from your side, as you are an intellectual.
2. Ahmad Faraz, you returned the medal in retaliation of removal from service and not on democracy issue? Be honest and speak truth! By maligning the government for your own misdeeds is like you degrading yourself.
3. You could have easily returned the medal in 2004 if you had some problem on the issue of democracy.
4. By doing this act you have fallen in the eyes of most of your admirers. I am sorry to say the above but I myself is no more admirer of yours.
