City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed to fill the potholes emerged on the roads of the city after the recent rains within 48 hours to bring relief to the citizens.
He has sought co-operation of the cantonment boards and DHA in connection with the improvement of the city's infrastructure damaged by the torrential rains, said a statement here on Sunday. Meanwhile, the City District Government Karachi, after restoring 40 main roads of the city, has provided machinery to the 18 towns for carrying out cleaning of roads and streets in an efficient manner. Work has also been started to drain out rainwater standing on roads and streets of cantonment areas. The Nazim has also directed the concerned authority to clear the encroachments from 63 main nullahs of the city.
Acting on the said directives, Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has started the demolition of a shopping mall being built on a nullah at Abul Hasan Ispahani Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. In the first phase, pillars erected on the third floor of the mall had been brought down.
