Federal Minister for Political Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam on Wednesday strongly condemned the MMA parliamentarians for tearing off copies of draft of Women Protection Bill, which contained words of Holy Quran, Sunnah and Hadith.
"The tearing off bill containing words from Quran and Sunnah is an unfortunate incident and the MMA should apologise from the nation," he said while addressing a big public gathering during the inauguration ceremony of feeder completed at cost of Rs6.5million at Professor Colony here at Agriculture University.
The federal minister said that no confidence motion moved by the opposition was a political gimmick. He said the opposition was trying to score political gains by moving the no trust motion. However, he argued that through such acts, the opposition would lose its credibility in the eyes of the people. He advised the MMA and ARD leaders to start preparation for the upcoming general elections scheduled to be held in 2007.
Amir Muqam, who is PML NWFP President said that President General Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz were taking keen interest in the development of frontier province. The president has approved mega developmental projects, including Lawari, Malakand tunnels, Chashma Right Bank Canal and Motorway projects, which would put the country on road to progress and development.
He said the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway would be inaugurated in April 2007. He lauded the leadership and visionary qualities of President General Pervez Musharraf, who saved Pakistan from both external and internal threats.
Muqam said that PML believes in politics of tolerance and development of the country while the opposition parties had always deceived people on various catchy slogans to achieve their vested interests. Earlier, the minister has unveiled the plaque to formally inaugurate the feeder by pressing the button.
Chairperson, Professor Colony, Dorishawar thanked Minister for fulfilling long awaited demand of the residents of the colony. Later, she presented shield to the Federal Minister and Deputy Manager Operation Pesco, Salim Khan as a memento of their visit to colony.
