The Central Board of Revenue is giving away awards to the highest taxpayers in different sectors, at a ceremony to be held in Karachi on Friday. Chairman CBR Abdullah Yusuf will give away awards to more than two dozen highest taxpayers from industry, services, professionals, businessmen etc.
CBR sources told Business Recorder that on behalf of the government, CBR chairman will thank these taxpayers for contributing to the development of the country and performing their social obligations.
They said that the business friendly tax reforms introduced by the present government were paying dividends as last year's collection was Rs 712 billion while current financial years tax collection target is Rs 835 billions.
He said that the next years target would be more than a Rs trillion. The Secretary General, Revenue Division will also inaugurate a newly established "Tax Facilitation Centre," in Karachi on Friday. The Tax Facilitation Centre (TFC) has been set up in Awami Markaz building, located at Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi.
TFC is a part of the ongoing Tax Administration Reforms Programme (TARP) of CBR that the Government of Pakistan has embarked upon with the assistance of the World Bank/DFID. The major objective of the establishment of the TFC is to provide facilitation and guidance to the taxpayers.
