City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that city government had initiated a 24 kilometers long alleviated expressway under the public private partnership to facilitate general public in the metropolis.
This he said at a briefing was given to intellectuals, engineers, stakeholders, architects, and citizens about the project on alleviated expressway to be constructed from Jinnah Bridge to Quaidabad.
The briefing was organised by the I J M construction company at a local hotel on Tuesday.
Mustafa termed it an historic project, and said it would be constructed without any financial assistance from federal and provincial governments.
He said city government would ensure public participation in the development projects adding that it would also take the views of experts, citizens and intellectuals into account on mega projects as it had been doing since past.
The project will turn up as a great source toward resolving traffic problems in the metropolis, he said and he added that low toll tax charges on the proposed alleviated expressway would be fixed for transports.
He hoped the proposed project would help boost up country's economy and would generate opportunities for employment. All aspects of the proposed project came under discussion during briefing. Experts, citizens, and intellectuals also expressed their views about the project.-PR
