Ukraine boosted its barley exports to 858,700 tonnes in August from 166,100 in July, analysts said on Thursday, quoting preliminary data from ports. ProAgro agriculture consultancy said Ukraine exported 557,300 tonnes to Saudi Arabia, 100,700 to Jordan, 51,500 to Libya, 38,900 to Tunisia, 29,500 to Britain, 21,200 to Syria and 20,200 to the United Arab Emirates.
The consultancy said the average export price fell to $116.65 in August from $120.96 in July. ProAgro said on Wednesday that Ukraine had increased wheat exports to 445,800 tonnes in August from 318,800 in July.
The agriculture ministry says Ukraine is likely to export about 13 million tonnes of grain in the 2006/07 season (July-June) compared with 13.4 million in 2005/06.
The ministry said Ukraine had exported 1.7 million tonnes of grain in the two first months of the current season or almost the same volume as was sold abroad in July-August 2005.
