After natural calamities like earthquakes, heavy rains, floods and storms, I have often heard official assurances, along with allocation of funds, and expensive campaigns in the media.
They are indeed very high sounding and encouraging. Unfortunately during and after these calamities, eloquence is left with little or no succour. Particularly in the light of recent floods in the country and the rains in Karachi, I am forced to say that while in Lebanon, Israel is responsible for all the destruction and disaster, in Pakistan various tiers of the government do this job quite efficiently, followed by eloquence, instead of succour. God help us.
