A Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) delegation, led by its chairman, Suhail Harral, will meet Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) chief on October 6, to sort out outstanding payments of differential on 45,000 bales cotton sold two years back.
TCP had paid the ginners for the stocks of grade III but sold it for higher grade. The ginners protested for low grade payments for good quality lint. The two sides held a number of meetings. Subsequently, TCP accepted ginners'' demand and its former chief, Masood Alam Rizvi, agreed with PCGA to pay its aggrieved members the differential.
TCP asked the ginners to deposit claims for fee to get the differential, which they did. However, Masood''s transfer delayed the payments. Its two years of wait now for ginners and inordinate delay in payments of claims was a serious cause of concern to them.
The PCGA central executive committee (CEC) had taken up the matter in its meeting last week and demanded of the TCP to make payments of differential to the aggrieved ginners without further delay. The CEC noted that after formal agreement TCP had no logic to delay payments of millions of rupees to the ginners.
Talking to Business Recorder, PCGA former chairman Ibrahim on Wednesday said it was unfortunate on the part of TCP to delay payments for two years to the ginners. He said PCGA delegation would like to sort out the issue in a cordial atmosphere and ensure good working relationship with TCP in the future. He said PCGA wants that TCP should address the outstanding issue of rent for a godown in Rahimyar Khan and payment of packing money.
