Chris Gayle, one of the most flamboyant batsmen in the cricketing world, would not be seen hitting sixes in this years Twenty20 Big Bash League (BBL).
Australias glitzy BBL returns for a sixth season on Tuesday, featuring a number of international superstars but no Chris Gayle.
The development comes after the hard hitting West Indian caused a social outrage during the last BBL, with his infamous Dont blush baby flirting with a female TV reporter during a match with the Melbourne Renegades. The flirting didnt set well with the cricketing world sparking claims of sexism, reported Hindustan Times.
However, BBL manager Anthony Everard insisted he had not been banned.
There is a process for us where clubs need to seek CA (Cricket Australia) approval for overseas players, and nothing came across our desk, Everard explained.
However, the BBL remains a star packed event featuring great entertainers the likes of Sri Lankas Kumar Sangakkara, New Zealands Brendon McCullum, English trio Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell and Stuart Broad and West Indians Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell among.
Nonetheless, Gayle remains one of the most sought after cricketing stars in Twenty20 world, and would be seen representing Karachi Kings in the upcoming second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
