The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore has appointed Professor Dr Ashiq Hussain Cheema as principal of the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang. Dr Ashiq has taken over his duties on Monday.
The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang has been established by the UVAS recently, and admissions to first batch of DVM first year class has been completed there.
Dr Ashiq earned his PhD in Veterinary Pathology from the Washington State University in 1970 and has 30 research articles to his credit. He served as chief scientist-II at the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) Islamabad, as professor at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, University of Shiraz, Iran and University of Baghdad, Iraq.
He also worked as pathologist at International Research and Development Corporation in Michigan, USA. Dr Ashiq was honoured with Scientist of the Year Award in 1995 for diagnosing hydro pericardium syndrome.
