KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has once again complained about limited resources and said local governments are not being allowed to flourish.
Talking to media on Wednesday during his visit to different schools at Federal B Area in connecting with 100-day cleanliness drive, Akhtar said that Karachi shows a view of destruction since the last eight years.
Akhtar said that people have elected him as the mayor of Karachi but his hands have been tied by the government to do any work for his people.
Waseem Akhtar added that he had protested everywhere regarding the lack of power.
Akhtar lamented that local governments remain strong around the world; however, the scenario is quite the opposite in Pakistan. This is the only country where the local government is stripped of authority.
